Novak Djokovic declared that he had tested positive for a RT-PCR test he took on December 16, 2020. The Serbian revealed that just a day later, on basis of a negative antigen test, he was attending a prize-giving ceremony.
Novak Djokovic also gave an interview to L’ Equipe just days after taking the test. The Serbian revealed that it was a huge error on his side, but he still did not receive his test results up till then. However, question marks still remain whether the test result was manipulated or not, given the discrepancy in the timing.
Novak Djokovic could now find himself under serious trouble, as the Serbian also visited Spain whilst testing positive. The 34-year-old was reported to be seen training in Spain in order to prepare for the 2022 season. Now, he could face a five-year imprisonment for producing fake evidence to the Australian Border Forces.
A decision on Novak Djokovic situation expected on Thursday
The prosecution is still reviewing the documents submitted by Novak Djokovic, hence a decision could not be reached on Wednesday. However, a decision could be made early on Thursday which will decide the Serbian’s fate.
If Novak Djokovic has provided false evidence, then on the basis of Law of Crime, he could face a five-year imprisonment, as stated by the newspaper, The Age.
