World No.1 Novak Djokovic is just a few hurdles away from creating history at the 2021 US Open. The top seed is in the quarterfinals in New York and will take on Matteo Berrettini next.

Earlier in the year, the Serbian star had announced that he and his team will be filming a docuserie, featuring his journey to the top of the tennis world. Although it was supposed to be released at the time of the US Open, additional work on the same will mean postponing the release by a few more months.

After progressing into the quarters, the 34-year-old spoke to some Serbian reporters and informed that the release could be by year end, or even in the first few months of 2022.

“There have been some changes in the meantime, since we wanted to shoot some more material. At the moment, the plan is for the documentary to see the light of day near the end of this year, or in the first two months of 2022,” Djokovic said.

“We are recording stuff here in New York as well. Then we need to edit it, to make it whole and to decide whether it is going to be a film or a docuseries. We are going to make that decision as a team,” the World No.1 further explained.

Documentary will entail on and off court stories

The 20-time Grand Slam champion also stated that the documentary will serve as a tool for all fans to understand his journey and development as a tennis player. The Djokovic documentary will also feature some interesting interviews from his near and dear ones.

“I feel that it is going to be very interesting and I hope that the people will like it. Also, for those who do not know me, it will be a chance to get to know me better off the court. It is about my career and my life, some of my intimate and private things. All of the people that are closest to me have given interviews speaking about me,” Djokovic concluded.
