However, he wasn’t allowed to contest in Melbourne. Things got even worse when Rafael Nadal won the Australian Open title making him the player with most no. of grand slam titles. Djokovic must’ve been outraged by the scenario as he didn’t even get a chance to defend his title.

Novak Djokovic and Fabio Fognini have been close friends for a long time. The two players have played matches against each other and even with each other. Djokovic would’ve definitely been angry with the manner in which things panned out in Melbourne last month. Djokovic who had won the Australian Open title for 9-times in his career was expecting to make it his 10th win down under.

However, the Serb was deported by Immigration Minister Alex Hawke due to Djokovic’s unvaccinated status. Djokovic didn’t only lose the opportunity of winning his 21st grand slam but also fell behind Rafael Nadal following his surprising win at the Australian Open.

The world No.1 will be dying to come back onto the court at the Roland Garros and prove himself in front of all the fans. The Serb will be facing the challenge of Nadal himself who is considered to be the ‘King of clay’. The face-off between the two will be enticing and the fans will be drooling over the opportunity of watching the two giants play it out in Paris.
