World No. 1 Novak Djokovic had a bitter ending to his Grand Slam journey this season as he finished the Grand Slams this season with a record of 27-1 with the loss in the finals of the 2021 US Open being the only defeat he faced in the Slam events this season as he picked up titles at the 2021 Australian Open, 2021 French Open and also the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.

Had Djokovic won the US Open finals against Daniil Medvedev, he would have become just the 2nd man in the Open Era behind the legendary Rod Laver to achieve the Calendar Slam, winning all 4 Slams in 1 season. Laver achieved the feat in 1969 and no man has been able to achieve the feat. Only Steffi Graf has managed to win all 4 Slams in 1 season since Laver and Steffi also won the Olympics Gold that year, achieving the Golden Slam.

Djokovic recently travelled to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina to visit the Visoko Pyramids, a place Novak has been making visiting quite often in the past 2 years. This is his 4th trip to Sarajevo in 2 years after visiting the place for the first time in 2020 with his parents. He made another trip a few months later with his wife Jelena after he lost the finals of the 2020 French Open to Rafael Nadal.

Novak visited the Pyramids in May 2021 as well before going for the 2021 French Open where he had only 1 title to his name prior to this year’s edition. With a victory in the finals, Djokovic completed a Career Slam for the 2nd time as he has won all 4 Slams more than once, a feat that even Roger Federer and Nadal have not achieved.

Novak Djokovic had earlier said that his reason for the visit to the Pyramids has been the peace and calm he feels there. He said that he felt reborn in the Ravne 2 Archaeological Park and he comes to the Pyramids to recharge him and his energy for the new challenges that are about to come his way. At his current visit, Djokovic has travelled without his wife but is accompanied by his son Stefan and daughter Tara.

With the Year-end championships and 2 more Masters tournaments left as the biggest remaining tournaments on the Tour, Djokovic can certainly use the positive vibes for the remainder of a tough and hard-fought but successful season. Novak apart from the 3 Slams, also won the 2021 Belgrade Open and finished runner-up at the 2021 Rome Masters and the 2021 US Open having a record of 44-6 this season.
