After weeks of speculations, 20-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic has finally been included in the official draw of the 2022 Indian Wells Masters. Djokovic’s participation in the Golden swing still remains in doubts due to his vaccination status. The Serb, despite being included in the draw is still unlikely to participate at Indian Wells.

He still hasn’t been permitted to enter the USA with the first-round matches starting in a couple of days. The official twitter handle of the BNP Paribas Open released an official statement regarding Djokovic after the draw was released in which they stated that he is included in the draw because he still is on the tournament entry list.

The statement further read that his participation will be determined on the basis whether he gets the CDC approval to enter the country or not.

Many fans were not happy with the Indian Wells‘ decision to include Djokovic in the draw. They claimed that with so much uncertainity around his participation, Djokovic’s removal, if needed, will only ruin the draw for other players.

Some people also called out the tournament for taking a weak stand in the matter as they expected them to ‘ban’ Djokovic given his unvaccinated status.

On the other hand, some fans supported Djokovic and urged them to allow the Serb to play as he is one of the best players in the world.
