Novak Djokovic during a recent interview shared information about a supportive message from Daniil Medvedev after he lost the finals against Rafael Nadal at the Australian Open.
The world No.1 was deported from Australia and wasn’t allowed to contest at the Australian Open 2022 due to his vaccination status. The 9-time Australian Open champion and also the defending champion was stolen an opportunity to defend his title as well as making it 10 Australian Open titles.
However, the final was played between Rafael Nadal and Medvedev which lasted for 5-sets and in the end, Nadal came out as the Australian Open champion. Djokovic in a recent interview shared information about that message.

Novak Djokovic’s deportation was one of the biggest news of the year. The world No.1, 9-time Australian Open champion, and also the defending champion was removed from the country he loves to play in.
There was a lot of chaos due to his vaccination status and the Immigration Officer decided to use his power and deport Djokovic out of the country. He received a lot of criticism as well as support during the times.
The criticism and support didn’t only come from the fans but also the players playing at the Australian Open. Daniil Medvedev who is world No.2 and Djokovic’s close friend was one of the players who was very supportive to Djokovic in the hard times.
Medvedev reached the finals of the Australian Open for the second time in his career and lost once again. This time it was Rafael Nadal who managed to defeat the Russian.
Djokovic in his recent interview shared that 5 minutes after Medvedev lost the finals, he texted him a very supportive message. He refrained from revealing the message because those were private, but he did say that the nature of the message was supportive.
