18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz claimed the biggest ATP Tour title of his career on Sunday at the Miami Open presented by Itau. The Spaniard defeated sixth seed Casper Ruud, 7-5, 6-4, in the final at Hard Rock Stadium to win his first ATP Masters 1000 title and his third tour-level crown.
Alcaraz is the youngest Miami men’s champion in the event’s 37-year history, and the third-youngest ATP Masters 1000 champion overall, spanning 283 events from 1990. The first Spanish champion at the event, he will rise to a career-high ATP Ranking of No. 11 with the win.

Despite the dominance of the Big 3 in the past two decades, but during this period there has never been an arrival like the emergence of Carlos Alcaraz. Having been ranked 133rd exactly a year ago, he is now on the cusp of joining them with his new ranking of 11.
Despite all his success, including the Rio Open win prior to this tournament, some critics and haters had labeled him as overhyped and overrated, talking I’ll about the Spaniard on social media.
However, the teenager has given the best reply he could to all his haters and doubters after clinching his first ATP 1000 title in an emphatic manner. The win took him to 2nd on the ATP live race rankings, being just behind his compatriot and idol Rafael Nadal, further silencing his critics.
