Paula emerged from the lockdown, after fighting with her stress, with a new resolve, ready to take control of her career. She parted ways with longtime coach Xavi Budo after the US Open 2020. She reinstated Javier Marti as her coach, who is only 5 years older than her and himself a player on tour that year, from September 2020.

“It was a big change, especially before a Grand Slam, but I really felt I needed it. I’d had a good relationship with Javí before. We knew each other very well, and so I was 100% sure things would work out and we’d be a good team.” said Badosa regarding her change in choice.

Paula again split up with Javier Marti in August 2021 and he was replaced by Jorge Garcia, who had been her coach at the junior level back in 2011. Jorge Garcia is her current Coach.

Paula has been seen to grow immensely under her new coach and her performances have been outstanding. She is currently ranked the no. 8 player in the world in women’s singles.
