Former World No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard was once known for her super aggressive gameplay and her soothing gameplay. She was the breakthrough star back in 2014 when she reached the Wimbledon finals and became the first Canadian ever to reach the finals of a Grand Slam.

The Canadian is again sweating it out on the court as she aims to make a comeback. The 28-year-old is focused and will be playing her first match of the year U.S. Pro Women’s Clay Court Championship at Innisbrook Resort in Florida. Bouchard has received a wild card into the main draw of the ITF tournament. The event is scheduled at the Innisbrook resort in Florida for the first time since 2019.

Bouchard‘s main aim is to earn a wildcard for this year’s French Open and the tournament is a part of the USTA French Open wild card challenge. It enables an American player on the men’s and women’s side to get a wild card entry into the main draw of the French Open.

So she was seen posting pictures on her social media handles of her spending time on the court and enjoying her training. She understands the value of this tournament as she wants to push herself back into the limelight. A place in the French Open’s main draw will open up a lot of things for her. So for no, her complete focus will in her training and winning the ITF competition.

Eugenie Bouchard once was the breakout star back in 2014 when she reached the Wimbledon finals. She was only 20 back then and became the first Canadian to feature in a Grand Slam Singles finals. Apart from the Wimbledon finals, Bouchard also reached the semifinals of two more Grand Slams to prove it was just not a fluke. She was on top of the world with everyone in awe of her talent and outspoken personality.

However, her fortune had other ideas as she suffered a freak concussion which led to her retirement from the fourth round at the US Open. It led to a lot of things as she was really down on confidence and self-belief.

She failed to reach the second round of any of the Grand Slams in 2016 as it was the start of her decline. By 2017, the Canadian dropped down to ITF but even there she struggled to dominate the circuit with her quality.

She struggled with all the limelight and her off the field activities affected her performances on the court.
