The Swiss Indoors tennis tournament is the home tournament of the retired tennis great, Roger Federer, which takes place in the month of October in Basel, Switzerland. Federer won this tournament 10 times in his career.
This year’s Swiss Indoors will feature players like Casper Ruud, Holger Rune, Taylor Fritz, and defending Champion, Felix Auger-Aliassime as well. This tournament was started in 1970 and featured mostly the top-ranked Swiss players.
The matches were played in a unique red hard court until 2010 and later was changed to the uniform blue courts like all the other European tournaments. Since 2009, the tournament has been a part of the World Tour 500 series of the ATP Tour.
As Carlos Alcaraz will not be competing, Holger Rune will be the top seeded player of the tournament in its 52nd edition. Rune has not had the best of seasons due to injuries and will not be the favorite to win. Second seed, Casper Ruud also has had a disappointing set of matches at the Asian leg of the Tour and will try and make a comeback in this tournament.
Top-ranked Novak Djokovic will also not be competing in this year’s edition as he has already prioritized the events he will feature in. The Serbian has taken a break following his 24th Grand Slam win at the US Open this year. Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur and Shanghai Open Champion Hubert Hurkacz are the one’s that have the highest chances of winning this tournament this year.
