‘Here I am!’ Rafael Nadal announces exciting news and fans can’t keep calm!

There was a lot of speculations whether 2009 champion Rafael Nadal will compete at the 2022 Australian Open or not. After the Mubadala Tennis World Championship exhibition event, Nadal tested positive for COVID-19 and hence was in isolation, which hampered his chances of travelling to Australia for the summer swing.

But Nadal recovered from the COVID a few days back and was reportedly set to travel to Australia and compete in a tune up event as per schedule. Today, he took to social media to reveal that he has landed in Australia safely and is set to compete as per schedule.

Nadal posted a photo of himself clicked inside the Rod Laver Arena and captioned it, “Don’t tell anyone… here I am.”

A fully fit Nadal is expected to play the ATP 250 Melbourne Summer set tournament which will start from January 4 as a tune up event ahead of the Australian Open. Nadal will look to capitalize on the fact that Djokovic might not play the Australian Open and secure his 2nd Australian Open title in the process.

If he fins his groove back, Nadal will be one of the strongest contender to win his 2nd Australian Open title especially if his main rival- Novak Djokovic decides to skip the Australian Open.
