Revealed! Alexander Zverev’s path to claim his inaugural Monte-Carlo Masters Title
Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev has had a dismal year so far, from being eliminated in the Mexican Open to failing to make a big impact in both Indian Wells and Miami. The German, however, is poised to make a stunning recovery at the ATP Monte-Carlo Masters, which will take place from April 10th to April 17th.
The German number one is well-versed in the circumstances on the ground but has yet to pull off a big coup in his prior visits. The second match against David Goffin ended last year, and Zverev was defeated by later champion Fabio Fognini in 2019. It was enough to reach the semifinals in 2018, but Zverev fell to Kei Nishikori. He had no assignment against Rafael Nadal the previous year. However, in the current season, that’ll be absent, considerably increasing the prospects of all other contestants.
A difficult draw ahead for Alexander Zverev
Zverev will receive a bye in the first round as one of the top seeds alongside Djokovic and Tsitsipas. As the tournament’s number two seed, Sascha will face either Federico Delbonis or a qualifier in the second round. On ashes, the Argentine can be exceedingly tiring, and Zverev has won both of their prior matches in Geneva and Hamburg in 2019. After that, however, a rocky road awaits the third in the world rankings: Pablo Carreno Busta, Alexander Bublik and Stan Wawrinka are blooming in the third round. Andrey Rublev and Jannik Sinner are possible quarter-final opponents of the German. Zverev may face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals. In the semifinals, he may also lock horns with Fabio Fognini and Diego Schwartzman.
When it comes to the finals, the German will face either the 18-year-old young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, or Casper Ruud. There’s a good probability Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will meet in the quarterfinals, and whoever wins that fight will accompany Zverev in the final showdown. If he is to face Casper Ruud in the final, the 23-year old is in a good form having been runner up in the Miami Open 2022 and possesses the potential of breaking Zverev’s dream of emerging as the ultimate winner.
