REVEALED! Andrey Rublev’s Path to Claim his First Australian Open Title

Andrey Rublev is seeded 5 and will starting his 2022 campaign playing at Australian Open 2022. He was diagnosed with novel coronavirus on December 27, 2022 and therefore could not participate in the ATP Cup 2022. The Russian last played at the ATP tour finals where he could not make it to the semi finals stage. Rublev lost against the likes of Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud but was able to defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the group stage. The score line of the match against Tsitsipas was 6-4, 6-4.
The 23 year old could only make it to the 3rd round in the recently concluded grand slam of US Open 2021 as he was beaten by the talented American, Frances Tiafoe in a 5 set thriller. The score line of the match was 6-4, 3-6, 6-7.
The world number 5 made it to the quarter finals in the Australian Open last year. He was beaten by the eventual finalist and current world number 2, Daniil Medvedev with the score line of 7-5 6-3, 6-2. It will be interesting to see how Rublev performs in the Australian Open 2022 considering it is his 1st tournament in the new season.
Tough Road Ahead For Rublev
Andrey Rublev is seeded 5 in the Australian and has a tricky road ahead of himself. He will play the Italian, Gianluca Mager in the first round. In the second round, the Russian is most likely to clash with Spaniard, Roberto Carballes Baena.
In the 3rd round, Andrey is most likely to set up a clash with former US Open Champion, Marin Cilic . The world number 5 is likely to clash with the in form Canadian, Felix Auger Aliassime in the fourth round.
If Rublev manages to cross the hurdles, then he is most likely to play against his fellow countryman and good friend, Daniil Medvedev in the quarter finals of the tournament. The potential semi final fixture for Rublev would be against world number 4, Stefanos Tsitsipas . If everything goes on course for the 23 year old, he can meet either Olympic Gold medalist, Alexander Zverev or 20 time grand slam champion Rafael Nadal.
