REVEALED! Ashleigh Barty’s potential path to claim her maiden Australian Open title

Ashleigh Barty, top seed at Australian Open 2022 will be the center of attraction in the first slam of the year. There will be huge pressure on the shoulders of the Australian, to win her first home slam. This is by far, Barty’s best opportunity to claim the title in Melbourne, given her injury concerns in the last edition.
Ashleigh Barty, two-time major champion has been placed in the first half of the draw as usual, being the top seed. The Australian has been handed quite a tricky draw, but given the form she is in, Ashleigh Barty could well go on to win the title.
The top seed opens her campaign against an unknown qualifier in round one, which will be confirmed in a day or two. In the second round, the Australian could face Varvara Gravecha of Russia, who also happens to face a qualifier in round one.
Ashleigh Barty next moves on to face 30th seeded Italian, Camila Girogi in round three. Her biggest obstacle comes in the form of 13th seed and defending champion, Naomi Osaka in round four.
Ashleigh Barty faces Naomi Osaka test in Round of 16
Ashleigh Barty and Naomi Osaka’s clash in the round of 16 could well and truly be one of the standout matches of the tournament. If the Australian clears the fourth round hurdle, then she is just three steps away from winning her maiden hard court slam.
In the quarterfinals, Barty could face fifth seed and hard hitting Greek, Maria Sakkari. Next, she moves on to the semifinals, where a potential clash against Paula Badosa or Barbora Krejcikova could be on the cards. The former was one of the best performing players on the WTA tour in 2021, whereas, Krejcikova claimed the French Open title.

Ashleigh Barty could face second seed, Aryna Sabalenka or third seed, Garbine Muguruza in the finals of Australian Open 2022. Sabalenka has never reached a slam final, whereas, Muguruza has ended as the runner-up in Melbourne in 2020.
