Revealed! Carlos Alcaraz’s path to claim his maiden Monte-Carlo Masters Title

Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz is surely one of the most exciting talents in tennis right now. The Spaniard always had that talent but it was only recently he backed it with performances. The 18-year old recently became the youngest ever to win the Miami Open title and is now keen to make it big in the upcoming claycourt season.

He also reached the fourth round at the Australian Open and had a great campaign in Rio winning the title. He then backed that performance at the Indian Wells where he reached the semifinals but was beaten by his idol, Rafael Nadal. But it is his determination, character and aggressive nature that keep him going and it is the reason he won the ATP 1000 Masters title in Miami.

Now with the start of the claycourt season, Alcaraz will be in action at the Monte Carlo Masters. The youngster will fancy his chances with the form he is in as he enters the field with players like Noval Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, etc. However, it is still a depleted lineup with players like Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal and Matteo Berrettini all withdrawing from the competition under different circumstances.

Carlos Alcaraz is at that stage in his career where he will learn more things and also get better with more matches under his belt. But it is his consistency and adaptability that makes him a great prospect and not only for the future but also for the present.

The 18-year-old is still a work in progress but he has shown that on his day he can beat any opponent on any surface. His previous performances on clay from last year are not too bad either. But this year he brings a lot of rhythm and confidence from winning his first ATP 1000 Masters title and will surely be a force to be reckoned with.

Alcaraz has received a bye in the first round So he will start his Monte Carlo Masters journey against either Sebastian Korda or Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round. He will fancy his chances against both the players. In the third round, he would be challenged by Indian Wells Champion Taylor Fritz whereas there are outside chances for players like Marin Cilic as well. In current form, Alcaraz should beat both of them but a match between Fritz and Alcaraz promises to be a spectacular clash but for that, we will have to wait.

There are high chances that the 18-year-old will make it to the quarterfinals in Monte Carlo. If he does that then he will probably play the World No. 1 Novak Djokovic for the first time in his short career. There are some outside chances for Dan Evans or Roberto Bautista Agut. But it more or less will the Serbian in the last 8.

If Alcaraz gets to the semifinals he is likely to face either inform Casper Ruud, Hubert Hurkacz or Britain’s Cameron Norrie. Lastly, there are many permutations for the finals as the youngster can face one from players like defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev or even Andrey Rublev.

Overall it will be a tough outing for Alcaraz as he will have to be very consistent and also at his best to spring up wins. The quarterfinals clash against Djokovic will surely be a mouthwatering encounter.
