Stefanos Tsitsipas is the 4th seed and will be playing at US Open 2022 after having a decent run in the ongoing hard court swing.
The Greek reached the finals of Cincinnati Open where he was ultimately defeated by Croatian, Borna Coric in straight sets. The score line of the match was 7-6, 6-2.
Tsitsipas made it to the 3rd round of the Wimbledon 2022 where he was beaten by the eventual finalist, Nick Kyrgios in a controversial and a drama filled encounter. The Australian won with the score line of 6-7, 6-4,6-3, 7-6
The 2021 French Open finalist had a forgettable outing in the US Open 2021 as he lost in the third round to then rising star and present world number 4, Carlos Alcaraz in a 5 set thriller. The score line of the match was 6-3, 4-6, 7-6, 0-6, 7-6. He would be hoping to perform much better than the last year which will also help in grow in the rankings as well.
Tough Road Ahead For Tsitsipas
Stefanos Tsitsipas is seeded 4th in the US Open and has a tough road ahead of himself. He will meet a qualifier in the first round. In the second round, the Greek will clash with either Italian, Lorenzo Sonego or Australian, Jordan Thompson.
In the 3rd round, Stefanos is most likely to set up a clash with world number 34, Maxime Cressy or in form Japanese, Yoshito Nishioka. The Greek is likely to meet with the Italian star, Matteo Berrettini in the 4th round.
If the world number 5 manages to cross the above hurdles, then he is most likely to play against world number 12, Taylor Fritz or French Open 2022 runner up, Casper Ruud in the quarter finals. The potential semi final fixture for Tsitsipas would be against defending champion, Daniil Medvedev or Wimbledon 2021 finalist, Nick Kyrgios. If everything goes on course for the 24 year old, he can meet either 19 year old, Carlos Alcaraz or 22 time grand slam champion, Rafael Nadal or 2022 Wimbledon Quarter Finalist, Jannik Sinner.
