Roger Federer and his love affair with the Grass surface is one of the most beautiful stories in the game of tennis. The Swiss Maestro has won 19 titles on grass which is an Open-Era record with American legend Pete Sampras second at 10 titles.
Federer is often considered the greatest Grass player and his records speak for themselves. He has won 8 Wimbledon titles of which 5 came in consecutive years starting from 2003 to 2007 and reached 7 finals starting from 2003 to 2009 of which only in 2008 he was unable to win the title against his biggest rival Rafael Nadal in what is considered to be one of the greatest tennis match.
Apart from his winnings at the SW-19 at Wimbledon, he has dominated at the ATP-500 Noventi Open which is held in Halle, Germany. Federer has record 10-titles in Halle with the second position being held by Russian Yevgeny Kafelnikov who has won 3 titles. Apart from his 10 singles titles, Federer also has 1 Doubles title which take his tally to 11 at Halle.
With Federer making a comeback on the tour after a long while, he has already confirmed his participation at the Halle Open 2021 in his preparation for his 9th Wimbledon title and 21st Grand Slam title.
Speaking about their favourite guest, tournament director Ralf Weber disclosed the special contract between Roger Federer and Halle. “Roger has a lifetime contract with us. He will compete in Halle every year until he retires.” said Ralf.

Roger Federer has been a regular at Halle and has reached 13 finals at the tournament winning on 10 different occasions. He did a double in 2005 winning both in Singles and Doubles event.
He won 4 consecutive titles from 2003 to 2006 and then again got a hattrick of titles from 2013 to 2015. He will return to Halle 2021 as the defending champion from the 2019 edition as the 2020 edition was postponed due to all tennis activities being halted due to the Pandemic.
Ralf Weber gave another insight about Federer’s future saying, “Federer has still not decided if he will play the 2022 season.” Federer is set to practice in Switzerland before going to Halle and then to England in his bid for his 9th Wimbledon title, skipping the Stuttgart Open in the process.
