Casper Ruud continues his fine form on Clay this season as he reaches the second round at the French Open 2021. He defeated Frenchman Benoit Paire 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6(4) after dropping the 1st set in 3 hours. This takes his record at the Grand Slam to 10-4 in 5 tournaments.
Ruud will be aiming to go as far as possible having been amazing on Clay throughout the year and looks certain to go past the 3rd round which has so far been his best finish at the tournament.
Kamil Majchrzak reaches the 2nd round at the French Open for the first time with his 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Wildcard entrant Arthur Cazaux in 3.5 hours. Kamil entered the main draw from the Protected Ranking quota after having been injured in the start of the season.
The Polish national will be looking to make the best use of this opportunity as he has already achieved his best ever result at the Grand Slam after defeats in the first qualifying rounds in 2018 and 2019 followed by a first round defeat in the main draw last year.
