Casper Ruud will be back on Grass for the first time since the 2019 season where was defeated in the opening round at the 2019 Wimbledon. He made his Grass debut in the first round of qualifiers at the 2018 Wimbledon where he was defeated. He is yet to win a match on Grass in his professional career and will be hunting for his 1st win at the Mallorca Open 2021.
Ruud had a wonderful season on Clay winning 17 of his 22 matches and also clinching the title at the 2021 Geneva Open. With his current form he will look for a good start to his Grass season for 2021 and get some wins before he makes his 3rd appearance at the upcoming Wimbledon Championships 2021.
Gilles Simon will be participating in his 3rd Grass tournament of the season and is yet to win a match on the surface having faced first round defeats in the ATP Stuttgart Open 2021 and also in the ATP Halle Open 2021. He had a good Grass season in 2019 reaching the finals of the 2019 Queen’s Club and will be looking to repeat those successes this year as well.
He is in probably the worst season of his career as he has won just 2 matches so far this year. After a poor start to the Grass season as well, he will be desperate for a victory when he takes the court against Ruud.
