Aryna Sabalenka reaches her maiden Grand Slam semi-final as she defeats Ons Jabeur in the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon 2021. Sabalenka defeated Jabeur 6-4, 6-3 in 1 hour and 14 minutes to make it into the last-4 of the Championships.
This was Aryna’s 3rd straight-set win out of her 5 matches, having won her 1st round, 3rd round and the quarter-final clash in straight-sets while winning the 2nd and the 4th round match in 3-sets, staging a comeback in the 2nd round after dropping the 1st set.
Karolina Pliskova also reaches her first semi-final at Wimbledon, which was the only Grand Slam where the former World No. 1 had not made it till the last-4. Pliskova was up against Swiss player Viktorija Golubic who she went on to defeat 6-2, 6-2 in 1 hour and 21 minutes.
Pliskova is yet to drop a set this year at the All-England Club having won all 5 of her matches in straight-sets as she continues her hunt for her maiden Grand Slam, having come close at the 2016 US Open where she finished as the runner-up.
