Aryna Sabalenka vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich : Preview
At only twenty-three Aryna Sabalenka already has ten WTA titles. But this year her performances on clay have been a revelation. She has proved her critics wrong and competed well, first reaching the Final of the Stuttgart Open, and then as if to rub it in even more, she won the Madrid Open beating Ash Barty in the Finals.
Sabalenka is happy go lucky outside the court but inside the court she is a fierce competitor. Her first round opponent here was Ana Konjuh. Konjuh had taken an early 4-2 lead in the first set, but then Sabalenka came back into the match. She took the first set 6-4 and then on the second 6-3. A comprehensive 6-4 6-3 win. Her next opponent is Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
Sasnovich is twenty-seven and from Belarus like her opponent. Sasnovich started her clay court season at Madrid, but there she failed to qualify for the main draw. She reached the Quarter Finals of the just concluded Serbia open. In the first round of the French Open she beat Diane Parry of France 6-3 3-6 6-3.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich : Head to Head
These two players have met once on the tour before, in Wuhan in 2019. Sabalenka won that match, so she leads the head to head 1-0.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich : Prediction
Sabalenka has made big improvements to her game on clay and taken giant strides towards the favourites tag for this tournament. She has added variety to her already super powerful and potent game.
Sasnovich made thirty-six unforced errors in her first round match against the Wild Card Parry, if she puts on a similar performance, she is in for a mighty humiliation.
