Diego Schwartzman will be back on tour for the first time since his 3rd round exit at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where he lost to the eventual Silver medallist Karen Khachanov. Benoit Paire comes into the tie from a revenge victory over American Mackenzie McDonald who had defeated the Frenchman in the 2nd round of the 2021 Washington Open on his way to the runners-up finish.
