Novak Djokovic is treated like a national hero in Serbia, hence, Aleksandar Vucic believes that he can come back to his country with his head held high. Moreover, the President stated that he was in contact with Novak Djokovic after the decision was announced, and lent him all the support he needed.

Djokovic can return to his country with his head held high. I spoke earlier to Novak Djokovic after the decision and I encouraged him. We look forward to seeing him return to his country, where he is always welcome,” the president added.

The President also claimed that the prosecution were blatantly lying in regards to the vaccination rates in Serbia. He stated that Serbia has over 58% of vaccinated individuals, higher than most European countries, contrary to what was mentioned in the court hearing. Moreover, he believes that in the process of humiliating Novak Djokovic, they have instead humiliated themselves.

You saw in the pointless court proceeding how much the prosecution lied,” he added.

Don’t forget that’s higher than in many European Union countries. That was a pointless argument, but that’s possible in Orwellian performances. They think they have humiliated Djokovic, but they have humiliated themselves and he can return to his country and look everyone in the eyes with his head held high,” the President concluded.
