Novak Djokovic, nine-time Australian Open champion has been left stranded in Melbourne. The Serbian has seen his Australian Visa cancelled after he arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday. Currently, the 34 year old is under hotel quarantine, as he awaits the final verdict.

Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic has made it clear that the entire government is behind Novak Djokovic, and will do everything to make him feel at ease in Australia. The Prime Minister revealed that Djokovic will stay at the Park Hotel, until a decision is made early on Monday.

Ana Brnabic has also stated that arrangements have been made to provide gluten-free food to Novak Djokovic, and other necessary stuff.

He’s staying in Park Hotel until the final decision is made. We’ve managed to make sure gluten-free food is delivered to him, as well as exercising tools, a laptop and a SIM card so that he is able to be in contact with his family,” the Prime Minister said.

The Serbian Prime Minister also stated that as of now, communication with the Australian government is fairly positive. She stated that the government is ready to provide the guarantees so that Novak Djokovic is allowed in Australia.

It’s a positive tone from the Australian side. The Serbian government is ready to provide all the guarantees necessary for Novak to be allowed to enter Australia, the Serbian president (Aleksandar Vucic) is also involved,” she added.

Novak Djokovic has won a record nine Australian Open titles, and could enter double figures if he gets the opportunity. Last year, the 34-year-old defeated Daniil Medvedev in the finals in straight sets to claim his 18th career title.

It will be interesting to see as to what the final verdict will be on Novak Djokovic’s visa situation. The Serbian will have to leave the country at the earliest if the decision to cancel his Visa is not changed.
