Former World No. 1 Serena Williams recently turned 40 is about to enter into her 26th year since turning Pro in 1995. The 23-time Grand Slam winner is one of the most decorated players in the history of tennis and has been dominant across all surfaces. In terms of career prize money, she stands as the highest-earning female athlete of all time despite nearing her retirement.

Serena along with her sister Venus started playing tennis from a very young age under the coaching and guidance of their father and coach to date, Richard Williams, who homeschooled the girls and helped them achieve the greatness they did. Richard was a regular in the players’ box at his daughter’s tournaments witnessing them write history.

To give a fitting tribute to their father, the Williams sisters along with Warner Bros will be releasing a biopic on their father titled ‘King Richard’ where the legendary Will Smith will play the role of Richard and the movie aims to show the journey and struggle of the Williams family. The trailer of the movie has created quite a buzz for the movie and fans are excited for the release.

Speaking about her father, who according to the trailer has been shown as a highly confident man and did not fear any challenge that came in front of him or his daughters, Serena said, “My dad was and still is way before his time. When someone is different, the first reaction is often fear. They think how do we break them? My dad anticipated that, but he would not allow himself or his family to be broken.

Serena continues to recover from the leg injury she suffered during her 1st round match at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships and has been on the sidelines ever since. Many expected that Serena will be fit before the 2021 US Open but she could not recover in time and has not played a match for over 3 months now.

There has been no official confirmation whether the American has ended her season but speculations are rising as only 1 WTA-1000 tournament is left which would tempt her to try to come back but the chances are quite slim about it.
