Denis Shapovalov vs Frances Tiafoe : Preview
Denis Shapovalov moves into his 5th quarter-final of the season as he still continues his hunt for the first title of the year. Shapovalov cruises into the quarter-final with consecutive straight-set victories to move into the last-8.
He defeated Feliciano Lopez 6-2, 6-3 in just over an hour to edge closer to his first Grass title and first of the season as well. He had reached the finals of the 2021 Geneva Open where he was unfortunate to lose to Norwegian star Casper Ruud.
Frances Tiafoe proves his decision to play the 2021 Nottingham Challenger fruitful as he advances into the last-8 at the Queen’s Club. Tiafoe who won the 2021 Nottingham Challenger has made a great comeback on the tour after a poor Clay season where he won just 4 of his 11 matches during the season.
Taifoe defeate Serbian Viktor Troicki in 6-3, 7-6(3) after winning the first round in 3-sets to move into his 2nd quarter-final of the season on the ATP Tour.
Denis Shapovalov vs Frances Tiafoe : Head to Head
This will be the 5th meeting between the duo and their first on Grass as all 4 have been played on Hardcourts. They last met in the 1st round of the 2019 Shanghai Masters. Tiafoe won their first ever meeting but has failed to win since then as Denis won 3 on the trot to lead the head-to-head 3-1.
Denis Shapovalov vs Frances Tiafoe : Prediction
Shapovalov who made his Grass debut at the recently concluded ATP Stuttgart Open 2021 registered his first win on Grass since 2018 and now looks better suited on the surface. He comes into the tie with a career record of 11-12 on Grass and season record of 17-12.
Frances comes in with a 16-11 record on Grass which includes his 5 matches won at the Nottingham Challenger as well. His poor Clay run sees him at season record of 18-12. Looking at the numbers and overall form across the season on all surfaces, Denis will be the favourite to clinch this match to move into the semi-finals.
Prediction: Denis Shapovalov to win in 3-sets.
