Cornet had a topsy-turvy season so far. She started her 2022 season with consecutive opening round defeats at the Melbourne Summer Set 1 and WTA Adelaide International 2. At the Australian Open, the French Veteran put on a remarkable run to reach her first Grand Slam final in her 63rd attempt. The road to the quarters wasn’t easy either, Cornet defeated two former Grand Slam champions, Garbine Muguruza and Simona Halep, en route. Her dream run was cut short in the quarter-finals by eventual runner-up Danielle Collins.
