18-year old Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest Miami Masters champion and the 3rd youngest champion of a Masters-1000 tournament when he defeated Casper Ruud in the finals of the 2022 Miami Masters. Alcaraz won the match 7-5, 6-4 to win his third career title and first on hard courts which also becomes his biggest career title so far.

Alcaraz’s win in Miami was the first title for a Spanish man in the tournament in Miami and it was a glorious day for Spanish tennis. Playing in his first Masters finals, Alcaraz turned out to be the winner but not without hiccups. Down 0-3 in the first set, he clawed his way back into the set after the nerves had settled and in the second set had to hold off Casper’s attempt to repeat what Alcaraz did in the first set.

Becoming the first teenager to win a Masters title since a certain Novak Djokovic did at the age of 19. With the whole tennis fraternity celebrating the success of the teenager who promises to take good care of tennis, World No. 3 on the WTA Tour, Paula Badosa also praised her teen compatriot.
