He started the interview by obviously talking about his maiden ATP title win, labeling it as a dream come true, referring to the suffering on the way due to his previous finals losses.

He then went on to speak about his coaches Frederic Fontang and Toni Nadal. Speaking on Toni, who is the uncle and long-time coach of Australian Open defending champion Rafael Nadal, the Canadian said that he had brought him into the team to add the star-dust and a winning mentality to the team.

The Canadian revealed that Toni helped him build a lot of confidence for the whole team and to coach in how to perform under pressure, which has helped in winning big matches and reaching the latter stages of Grand Slams.

“I think we took Toni to have that experience from the top of the sport and he built a lot of confidence [for] the team and normality to winning tournaments like this and reaching late stages at Grand Slams,” he said.

Aliassime’s perspective makes sense, as a personality like Toni Nadal undoubtedly adds a lot of winning quality into a team owing to the successful time he has had in building a world champion like Rafael Nadal from scratch and helping him get to the top.
