Garbine Muguruza has been one of the form players this year and her performances have gotten better as the year has rolled on. She started the year with a Final appearance at Yarra Valley Classic, following it up with a fourth round appearance in the Australian Open. She lost to Naomi Osaka in three sets, 6-4 4-6 5-7, and remained the only player to take a set off Osaka in the Australian Open 2021.
The middle eastern leg of the tour went fabulously for the World No.13. First she made it to the Finals of the Qatar Open and then she overcame a two year title drought to win the trophy at Dubai. Unfortunately for Muguruza, she suffered a leg injury and was forced to withdraw from the Charleston Open. Muguruza has not been able to take the field since, but is sure about competing in the French Open. Maybe, the Rome Masters is where fans will see her next.
