LeBron James has had an all-time great career as a basketball player. More than that, he has been the face of the NBA. That means one becomes popular beyond the walls of the basketball world. Therefore, when he decided to put out a meme-worthy picture of himself a while back, naturally it would come to the attention of others. Eventually, it did, when Team USA Tennis stars Emma Navarro, Jessica Pegula, and Desirae Krawczyk recreated the meme during the Paris Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony.

All the stars of Team USA were on the boat as it slowly moved towards the Eiffel Tower. LeBron James made his way through meeting the other athletes. Then he met the Team USA Tennis contingent. With the aura that he has, it was natural for them to want a selfie with the NBA great. James used Emma Navarro‘s phone to take the selfie. Then Navarro posted it to her storyline with these words:

This shows that LeBron James’ popularity is such that a meme he created in 2018 was used at the most opportune moment 6 years later by a tennis star who was probably in high school at the time. The reenacted story has since gone viral on social media.

The origin of this meme was when LeBron James was one of many who were speaking out against problems the Black American community faced during Donald Trump’s tenure as President. When a Fox anchor’s comments towards him brought backlash, the superstar stood on the edge of his pool with one hand on his forehead, smiling.

LeBron James had fun with Team USA athletes

Emma Navarro and Team USA Tennis were not the only ones who had all-time scoring great meeting them. As he continued his walk around the boat, he met pentathlon star Chari Hawkins. The last time Hawkins met James was when she was a little child. All these years later, they took a selfie together as members of Team USA’s Paris Olympics 2024 contingent.

He was then seen walking up behind WNBA and Phoenix Mercury star Kahleah Copper. She was shooting a reel for her social media when he came into the frame. She first thought he was just passing by. But he stopped and smiled into her phone, leaving her speechless.

LeBron James was doing his best to make USA athletes feel comfortable around the superstar. Even he knows it is the closest they can get to him. As this is his last Olympics, he wanted to take it all in and enjoy the moment along with everyone.
