ATP Lyon 2021 Final: Stefanos Tsitsipas claims his second title of the season; defeats Cameron Norrie in straight sets

Stefanos Tsitsipas claimed the second title of the clay court season, as he defeated Cameron Norrie in the finals of the Lyon Open 2021. The Greek defeated the Briton comfortably by a score-line of 6-3, 6-3. The world number five has been in tremendous form in the past two months, and has played five tournaments on clay courts so far.
Stefanos Tsitsipas lifted his first Masters title at Monte Carlo, and also reached the finals of Barcelona Open 2021. After a few disappointing results in Madrid and Rome, he bounced back in style at Lyon Open 2021. The Greek also defeated Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals in Lyon, after coming back from a set down. He dropped just one set throughout the tournament, and deserved a title for his dominating performance.
Stefanos Tsitsipas storms past Cameron Norrie
Stefanos Tsitsipas served brilliantly during the whole match, and served up seven aces. On the other hand, Cameron Norrie struggled to serve on Sunday, as he had five double faults to his name. The Greek won 82% of his points on first serve, whereas, Norrie managed to win only 68% of his points on first serve.
Cameron Norrie’s second serve was put under tremendous pressure from Stefanos Tsitsipas, as the Briton managed to win just 58% of his points on second serve. The Greek converted three out of his six break point opportunities. Norrie had three break point opportunities, but failed to convert any of those.
Stefanos Tsitsipas won 59 points, as compared to Norrie’s 41 points. The Greek will now head into the French Open 2021 with incredible confidence, and will hope to do well this year in Paris. Last year, he reached the semifinals, where he was defeated by Novak Djokovic in a five set thriller.
