Ukrainian superstar Elina Svitolina has been in decent form off late. She is a consistent member of the top 10 and has proved her mettle time and again. After bowing out of the second round at Wimbledon, she lost her opening matches at both Toronto and Cincinnati. She then won the Chicago Open and then reached the quarterfinal of the US Open where she lost to Leylah Fernandez.

This week in Indian Wells, she got the better of Tereza Martincova in straights sets 6-2,7-5 in the second round after receiving a first round bye.

As for Sorana Cirstea, she hasn’t had any form post the French Open. She reached the fourth round at Roland Garros and made it to the third round at Wimbledon where she lost to eventual champion Emma Raducanu. Since then, she hasn’t been able to clear
the opening hurdles and bowed out of the second round at Flushing Meadows.

In the second round at Indian Wells, she got the better of Misaki Doi in straight sets 6-2,6-3 to book a date with Svitolina in the third round.
