Iga Swiatek reaches the 3rd round of the US Open for the second year running and will be looking to go ahead given her visible improvement in every tournament. The Pole defeated American Jamie Loeb 6-3, 6-4 in the first round before staging a great comeback in the 2nd round against Fiona Ferro of France defeating her 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-0 when the clock had just crossed the 2-hour mark.

Anett Kontaveit reaches the 3rd round of the US Open for the 5th time and for the 3rd consecutive year. The Estonian is yet to drop a set so far in her 2 matches in New York as she defeated Australian Samantha Stosur 6-3, 6-0 in the first round and Jil Teichman of Switzerland 6-4, 6-1 in the 2nd round in just 70 minutes to advance into the 3rd round.
