Novak Djokovic played his first version of the new 2022 season at the ATP Dubai Tennis championships 2022. He played his opening match of the tournament against Lorenzo Musetti and won with a score of 6-3,6-3. After this, he won the round of 16 of the tournament by defeating Karen Khachanov with a score of 6-3,7-6. But to everyone’s surprise, the Serb lost his quarterfinal match to Jiri Vesely in straight sets 4-6,6-7(4).

Because of not playing so many tournaments, Djokovic has lost a handful of ATP points and after spending 361 weeks at the top spot, he has slipped down the ATP Rankings. US Open champion Daniil Medvedev will now become the new World No.1.
