Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis claimed the Australian Open Men’s Doubles title on Saturday, as they defeated another Australian pair of Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell. The duo won in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-4 to have a fairytale ending to a great run at Australian Open 2022.

Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis earned wildcards to compete at Australian Open, and made most of this opportunity as they defeated three of the top 10 seeds on their way to the finals. By claiming the title, they have also booked a place in the ATP Finals in Turin, which will be held in the end of the year.

While giving their victory speech, Thanasi Kokkinakis expressed his love for his good friend, Nick Kyrgios. The duo have given us several glimpses of bromance over the course of the two weeks. However, Kyrgios had something very hilarious to say which cracked up everyone inside the stadium.

Not many expect it to be a normal victory speech when Nick Kyrgios is speaking. And that is exactly what happened, as Kyrgios had something funny to say. “This big boy’s gonna be out tonight… so ladies, let’s go,” said Kyrgios. Nick Kyrgios then laughingly admitted that he has to stop speaking since he has been crossing the line.

The pairing of Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis is a very dynamic duo. One of the things that differentiates them from most of the teams is that they have deep faith in each other. Moreover, they know how to hold serve during crucial junctures of the match, something they have done well throughout the tournament.

The special K pair have also entertained the fans, as majority of the crowd stayed back behind to watch the Men’s Doubles final after Ash Barty clinched the Women’s Singles title.
