‘Truly a magical night!’ Stefanos Tsitsipas reflects on an ‘intensely lived’ Australian Open final clash between Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev

As a tennis fan, there was only one place to be at on Sunday night. Without a doubt, that place is the iconic Rod Laver Arena situated in Melbourne, Australia. Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev just proved as to why tennis is one of the most brutal sports out there.

Rafael Nadal and Medvedev battled for over 5 hours in an epic finale at Australian Open 2022. Eventually, Nadal won in five sets as he produced a comeback win from the top draw. The Spaniard claimed his second Australian Open title, and a record 21st major.

Several tennis stars and sporting icons took to social media to congratulate both players for the incredible fight they put up on Sunday. Stefanos Tsitsipas, who is known to be pretty active on social media also took to Twitter to give his thoughts on the epic finale.

Things did not work out for Stefanos Tsitsipas at Australian Open 2022, as he was defeated by world number, Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals for a second year running. The Greek tennis player was defeated in four sets in the last four battle last week, as he continues his bid to win his first major title.

However, he did congratulate both Nadal and Medvedev for a playing out an incredible finale. “Congrats for an amazing final from both! A match that was intensely lived. What else can I say… truly a magical night even for those watching,” wrote Tsitsipas.

Rafael Nadal looked down and out, as he was trailing 2-0 sets and was 0-40 down on serve in the third set. How he managed to pull off this epic comeback is just beyond questionable.
