The United Cup is a mixed-gender hard-court tournament that is affiliated with the ATP and WTA and is played by national teams. It serves as the seasonal opener of ATP and WTA’s tour and started last season. The 2024 United Cup will be the second season of the tournament. Last year, the United States of America (USA) won the inaugural edition of the tournament.
This year, the tournament will be played between December 29 and January 7, 2024, in two locations: Perth’s RAC Stadium and Sydney’s Ken Rosewall Arena. A total of 500 points are up for grabs for both ATP and WTA players. It can be considered the alternative to the Davis Cup, whose popularity has been on the decline ever since the change in its format.

The format of the United Cup is simple. There are a total of 18 teams participating in the tournament. They are divided into 6 groups of three teams each.
Each of the two venues hosts three groups in which the matches are played in a round-robin format. The winner of each group (6) and the two best runners-up (2) will qualify for the quarterfinals. From there, the tournament proceeds in a knockout format.
This year, several top players like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Taylor Fritz, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, Caroline Garcia and Marketa Vondrousova are set to represent their respective countries in the tournament. Thus, it is expected to be a highly intense and exciting tournament.
Broadcast and live-streaming details for the 2024 United Cup
Several players like Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Naomi Osaka will be missing the tournament as they will feature in the Brisbane International instead, which will take place simultaneously. However, the United Cup 2024 has enough star power to make it worth watching.

Apart from the defending champions, the USA, Poland, and Serbia seem to be strong contenders for the trophy this season. Serbia performed well in the Davis Cup this season as well and Djokovic will be supported by his accomplice, Hamad Medjedovic.
