Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic
From the time Novak Djokovic landed in Melbourne he has been fighting against the Australian authorities. The Australian authorities have been treating the world No.1 like a criminal.
At the same time, there has been widespread criticism for the Serb in Australian media and public. However, Nick Kyrgios who once was Djokovic’s biggest critic came out in support of the world No.1 and lectured the Amnesiac Australian people.
Novak Djokovic was helping Australia during the Bushfires
Novak Djokovic has time and time again shown his love for Australia. In 2020, during one of the worst Bushfires in Australia, Djokovic was constantly supporting Australia and its people. He made generous donations which certainly provided great help in protecting Australia.
Now, two years have passed and Djokovic is in the same country. But this time around the situation has taken a U-turn.
Djokovic is being treated like a criminal in the same country he once helped. The Australian authorities which once treated the 9-time Australian Open champion with the utmost respect, are now treating the same guy like a lawbreaker and some people are supporting this and criticizing the world No.1.
Finally, Nick Kyrgios came out in support of the world no.1. In an interview, the Australian lashed out at the Amnesiac nature of the Australian people. He said, “During the bushfires, #Djokovic was supporting, he was helping us out. We are so quick to forget and media are so quick to jump on things and forget he actually helped us. He didn’t have to do that, most athletes wouldn’t do that. They are selfish, most athletes are”.
Kyrgios was frustrated with the media and the people jumping to conclusions and not showing any respect to a legendary athlete who supported their country in times of a natural disaster.
