Amanda Anisimova was embroiled in a controversy over her relationship with Matteo Berrettini. The American youngster was pictured with Berrettini and Eugenie Bouchard at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. A fan posted a pic of them together at the concert, which all of a sudden turned into a dating rumor.
Berrettini recently split up with fellow tennis player Ajla Tomljanovic. The couple dated for two years, before calling it quits. Both of them have deleted pictures of each other from their social media, but are yet to announce their split officially. Amidst all this, fans have linked-up dating rumors between Anisimova and Berrettini. But the American was quick to squash away from the rumors. In a series of tweets, Anisimova denied any relationship with Berrettini, and said it was the first time, she even met the Italian. She was clearly annoyed over baseless rumors and lashed out at fans for stirring up a story out of thin air.

“This is actually crazy. It’s the first time I’ve ever talked to Matteo and even Genie [Eugenie Bouchard]. I just went to some places with my friend in the beginning, and we were all with Dave.”
“It’s actually sad how much unnecessary drama is created by people on social media, do something good with it instead. Look at what’s going on in the world, instead of making up stupid sh*.” Anisimova wrote on Twitter.
But now in a bizarre turn of events, Anisimova deleted all the tweets she made earlier. It is not yet known, whether Anisimova deleted it on her own accord so as not to further stir the controversy.
Anisimova made an early exit at the Miami Open with opening round defeat to fellow American Shelby Rogers. The home favorite didn’t have the Sunshine Double she hoped for after having made a dramatic exit at the Indian Wells. Anisimova retired mid-way through her match against Leylah Fernadez, where she squandered 4 match points. The American then stormed off-court in tears citing illness. Whereas Berrettini pulled out from the Miami Open with a hand injury.
