2019 French Open finalist Marketa Vondrousova has been in amazing form off late. After reaching the fourth round of the French Open, she bowed out of the second round at Wimbledon to Emma Raducanu. She then made it to the quarterfinal of the Chicago Open and also reached the semifinal of the Luxembourg Open. Last week in the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic, she again reached the semifinal before handing a walkover to Garbine Muguruza.
As for her opponent, Viktorija Golubic, she hasn’t been in the best of form this season. Her best performance of the season came in the grass court swing where she reached the semifinals at Eastbourne and Wimbledon. But ever since then, she hasn’t had any luck with form. She couldn’t get past the opening round at the Canadian Open and then bowed out of the qualifiers at Cincinnati. What followed was a series of opening round loses at the US Open and the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic.
