The title clash of the 2021 Davis Cup Finals ended the tennis calendar for this year as the players now go on a much-needed break before the new season begins in 2022. In the finals of the Davis Cup, Croatia took on the Russian Tennis Federation where the Russians won the tie 2-0 after winning both their singles matches.

Andrey Rublev defeated Borna Gojo and then Daniil Medvedev defeated Marin Cilic with both the results coming in straight-sets to hand the Russians an unassailable 2-0 lead that saw them win the Davis Cup for the third time in history and their first title at the tournament since 2006.

Being one of the biggest tennis matches in the season, the crowd in Madrid was buzzing in excitement during the match. Joining the spectators were Real Madrid Football Club’s Luka Modric and former club player and legend Luis Figo who also attended the match. Modric is himself the captain of the Croatian football team and led them to their best-ever finish at the FIFA World Cup when Croatia finished runner-up in 2018.
