Novak Djokovic has intensified his clay-court practises. The Serb recently exchanged hits with junior players from Piatti Tennis Center in Monte-Carlo. Djokovic’s old coach Riccardo Piatti owns and runs the academy, which has shared photographs of the Serb practising with up-and-comers Alex Orlov and Tommaso Dal Santo.

The academy took it to Twitter to post the picture of the Serb sweating it out with youngsters. The post read, “Our lucky players practiced with @djokernole. Thank you Nole, good luck @rolexmontecarlomasters.”

Djokovic will be hoping for a stronger presence at the Monte Carlo Masters this year after losing in the round of 16 to Dan Evans in 2021. With Daniil Medvedev only 10 points behind him in the standings, the 20-time Major champion will also be aiming to retain his world No. 1 ranking.

Despite the fact that the 26-year-old will be out for the next one to two months, including most of the clay season, after undergoing a “medical procedure” for a small hernia, he has few points to defend over the clay swing and might potentially improve on his world No. 2 ranking during his absence.
