Naomi Osaka is a great athlete, to say the least. The young gun from Japan has achieved a lot in a short span of time. Moreover, she is loved globally, not only because of her incredible skills on the court but for her take on a variety of social issues as well.
Osaka, who withdrew midway from the French Open 2021, was criticized by some, however, a lot of people came out in her support claiming that the tennis star is doing a brave thing and is inspiring people to speak up about mental health. Recently, Osaka again made headlines for her amazing gesture after her first-round match at US Open.
Osaka sends a young fan over the moon by gifting her an Olympic pin
Osaka, who started as a firm favorite in her first-round match against Czech tennis player Marie Bouzková easily made her way into the second round of the marquee tournament. Marie did play well in the first set, however, she was caught completely off-guard in the second and Osaka ended up winning the contest in straight sets.
After the match ended, Osaka was seen walking up to a little girl in the crowd. The World No. 3 gifted her Olympic pin to the young fan which made her extremely happy. In the post-match interview, Osaka claimed, “I just heard her when I was playing my match and she was so cute.”
Osaka is the defending champion at the US Open 2021 and needless to say, she is in dire need of redemption. After a forgettable run of form in the past couple of months, Osaka looks all set to make a thumping comeback on the court. She will take on Olga Danilović in her second-round clash.
