Novak Djokovic practices at the Rod Laver Arena for the 2022 Australian Open
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic was finally cleared of all charges when the court made the judgement in the player as Judge Kelly found the case of the Australian government ‘unreasonable’ and ordered the immediate release of the player while also instructing the government to cover the half a million-dollar of the cost of the case.
Novak was released from the federal quarantine hotel and was allowed to join his family and team who are believed to have rented a property for the 3 week-long stays in the country as the player will now start his preparation for the upcoming 2022 Australian Open.
Given the battle in court ending on 10th January, Novak was not able to enter any ATP Tour events and will now be without match practice when he starts at the Grand Slam next week from Monday, 17th January. However, the player wasted no more time and headed straight to training at the Rod Laver Arena.
A video has gone viral showing Novak training on the courts of the Rod Laver Arena with the video believe to be taken from a drone camera as many reports emerged that the Slam cut all the cameras and it is believed that the player practised ‘behind closed doors’. Djokovic can be seen hitting a combination of forehands, slice, backhand and the video cut when the player was seen approaching the net.
Is Novak Djokovic playing the 2022 Australian Open?
Djokovic still remains a doubt for the 2022 Australian Open as his fate now lies in the hands of the Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke. The minister now has the full authority to cancel the player’s visa and deport him out of Australia without giving a justification on why was the player’s visa cancelled.
As per the regulations, the player will not be then allowed to enter Australia for further 3 years but the government will still remain in power to allow him entry if the country wishes to welcome him next year for the Grand Slam in 2023.
