Roger Federer, the 20-time grand slam champion, celebrates his 40th birthday today. Federer was born on August 8, 1981, in Bessel, Switzerland and is one of the most well-known tennis players today. He has dedicated 23 of his 40 years to the sport, earning a record 20 Grand Slam titles.

Federer has spent 310 weeks at the top of the ATP rankings, including a record 237 consecutive weeks, and has five times completed the year as the top player. Federer has 103 ATP singles titles, second only to Jimmy Connors in all-time, including a record six ATP Finals.

Roger received birthday greetings from tennis fans all over the world on his special day. A few tennis players have also expressed their admiration for the great by giving him their best wishes.

The Serb Novak Djokovic sent Roger a video message greeting him on his 40th birthday. “It’s been a huge honour to share Roger’s tennis career with him over the last 15 years,” he added. Djokovic wants Roger to continue to inspire him, as well as millions of others, both on and off the court. He hopes Roger maintains the same level of performance even at this age. “Sport needs you, thanks for everything,” Djokovic said.

On Roger Federer’s birthday, Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori also wished him. Nishikori still considers Roger to be his inspiration and will continue to do so in the future. He still desires to play with the Swiss on a few more occasions.

Felix Auger Aliassime, who shares the same birthday as Roger Federer, also greeted him. Felix turns 21 today and felt fascinated that he and Roger are sharing the same platform. He said, “It’s good to have Roger around.”
