Both Djokovic and Wawrinka are preparing for the Monte Carlo Masters. Djokovic will be eyeing to get back in form and win the ATP 1000 Masters event. On the other hand, Wawrinka is a wildcard so he will be aiming to get some matches under his belt as he is returning to the court after some time now.

Fans were ecstatic to see the World No.1 back in action with the Swiss as they were sweating it out on the court. Some fans pinpointed how Djokovic looks very sharp with his movement and looks in really good shape ahead of the claycourt season. While others were just happy to get a glimpse of their favourite who will be back in action. Some fans were excited to see Wawrinka aswell. The three time Grand Slam winner previously played in a challenger event in Marbella to get back in the groove. However, he lost in the opening game against Elias Ymer 6-2, 6-4. He will now play the Monte Carlos Masters and gradually get in shape for the Roland Garros for at least putting up a fight.

Novak Djokovic has won bagged two Monte Carlo Masters titles previously back in 2013 and 2015. So he will be aiming to replicate that form this year. However, the Serb will up against defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, Miami Open winner Carlos Alcaraz and others like Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev. Old foe Stan Wawrinka will also be a wildcard entry at the event.

The World No.1 will begin his claycourt journey with both Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev breathing down his neck. Djokovic desperately needs a big performance at the Monte Carlo Masters as he aims to hold on to the top spot. The Serb has only featured in three matches and that is asking for trouble for someone who is heading into a long claycourt season starting with Monte Carlo.

The only edge that Djokovic is getting right now is on Nadal. The Spaniard is out with a stress fracture on his rib and will be out for some more weeks. Reports suggest that he would be able to make it to the Roland Garros but he will have to make a comeback straight away. Whereas Djokovic will get time to get matches under his belt on clay and gradually fine tune his skills as he aims to defend his Roland Garros title.
