Wawrinka is a powerful offensive baseline player who has one of the strongest one-handed backhands on tour. He is known for his fast serve which has reached as high as 232 kilometers per hour. He is known by the nicknames “Stanimal” and “Stan the Man” for both his playstyle and ability to win in big matches.

This year Stan was not seen on the court most of the time. He played only four matches and after that, he suffered from a severe foot injury. Following this, he announced on Twitter about his break and surgery.

“After having some problems in my left foot for a while, I have decided to do a small procedure on it. Everything went well. I will be out for a few weeks, but can’t wait to start practising again soon,” he wrote.
