The video which is making rounds on different social media platforms shows a 17-year-old Roger back in September of 1998, expressing his desire to qualify for the main draw of the Grand Prix de Tennis de Toulouse. The young gun went on to defeat Guillaume Raoux in the main draw and recorded his first-ever ATP Tour victory and rest, as they say, is history.

In the video, Roger can be heard saying, “I hope to qualify for the main draw but I don’t expect too much. I just hope that I’m going to play well tomorrow.” Today, Roger Federer has as many as 20 Grand Slam titles, and 103 ATP Singles titles to his name with 1251 ATP Tour-level wins.

Undoubtedly, Federer has taken the game of tennis to unprecedented heights. Although the 40-year-old has been plagued by injuries in recent times, he is expected to make a thumping comeback in 2022. With fans eagerly waiting for his return, it would be interesting to see how the champion player performs post surgeries.
