In the quarter-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022, World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas was up against World No. 16 Diego Schwartzman. Circumstances appeared to be difficult for the two players since neither of them was giving the other a chance to thrive. However, eventually, the world No.5 managed to fetch a three sets win over his fierce rival. After leading 6-2, 5-2 and then being down 4-0 in the last set, defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas finally got away with it (6-2, 6-7 [3], 6-4) against Diego Schwartzman.
On a score of 6-2, 5-2, the South American clay expert gave it his all and partially obliterated the opponent with a continuity solution. For a long time, Schwartzman’s forehand over Tsitsipas’ backhand was the decisive hit; the Argentine won by deliberately pushing on the opponent’s weak side, but only came close to a spot in the penultimate Contributory act.
